For over 20 years, various government agencies (WHO, CIRAD, IRD, MNHN) and non-governmental agencies (AAA, ACF, MDM, ASUR, AIMARA) have used my skills in different areas listed above. The reader can find on this site the links to main agencies and their acronyms. In most cases, these are multi-disciplinary approaches that have been performed regarding subjects and sometimes under difficult logistic conditions, in countries recovering from periods of insecurity and crises.

      These interventions, alone or in teams, have been conducted mainly in tropical Africa and French Guiana, always with local institutional development of training and capacity building.

     All results were published in articles, books and reports and presented at various meetings (conferences, symposia and congresses) that the reader may find the list on the site. These insights have also been made available for public exhibitions.


The various studies and work that I had performed allowed me to address various topics related to issues of management and the measurement of biodiversity for sustainable use of renewable natural resources.roblématiques de la gestion et de la mesure de la biodiversité en vue de l’utilisation rationnelle des ressources naturelles renouvelables.

The idea is to converge towards an integrated view of relationships between organisms and their environment to a better understanding of the functioning of ecosystems, in relationship with the socio-economic and human.

The various works, done in range of spatial and temporal scales, allowed to study organisms at different levels of organization ranging from the individual to the ecosystem.

Different tools were needed involving different disciplines, ethology, ecology, morphology and morphometry… Material being studied primarily continental freshwater fish.

The data collected were used in the context of fisheries management and development of farming (aquaculture).

Fishery: Fish resources assessment for small scale fisheries and renewable natural resources management.

Aquaculture: Establishing adapted subsistence aquaculture systems for food security related to environmental issues. Establishing fish farming ponds.

Hydrobiology: Structure and functioning of freshwater ecosystems. Inventory of biodiversity. Impact evaluations. Biotic indices: Evaluation of the statement of streams.

Ichtyology: Taxonomy, ethology, ecology, morphology and biogeography of freshwater fish.

Project implementation and management in the framework of food security and management of renewable aquatic resources.

Teaching & capacity building: Different levels (secondary school to university level). Development  of training courses.

Dissemination of knowledge: Scientific and nontechnical articles and books. Public exhibitions. Conferences.

Aquariology: Collection and delivery of live fish from the wild. Establishment of fish tanks and rooms. Conservation of rare and endangered species.
